Alex Schuh, Ph.D. Executive Director
Dr. Schuh is the founder and Director of FRONTIER21. Dr. Schuh holds a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied policy research and evaluation, collaborative learning, and the use of computer media for learning. He received his Baccalaureate from Yale University in Cultural Anthropology. His expertise is in multiple areas of youth development, including organizational development, education policy, quantitative and qualitative research methods, and computer-based learning. He has been a teacher in both Middle and High Schools. Since 1992, he has helped to design and establish more than 20 charter schools across the country, including a charter school based on the ideas of emotional intelligence and a virtual charter school for distance learning.
Ann Miller, MEd., Senior Research Associate
Ms. Miller is a Research Associate at FRONTIER21, responsible for overseeing strategic planning for charter, public and private schools, and integration of educational media into learning environments. Ann is a certified elementary teacher, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from the University of Vermont, a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education from Wilmington University and extensive experience teaching at all levels of elementary school in America and in the UK. She is an experienced IT expert, web designer and business consultant, having worked in computer programming and project management for 20 years in Fortune 500 companies.
Amanda Ducharme, M.S.E., Research Associate
Ms. Ducharme is a Research Associate at FRONTIER21, responsible for managing research projects, collecting and analyzing school and student data, and consulting with teachers on teaching methods, particularly in the areas of reading and writing instruction. Amanda is a certified elementary teacher, having graduated Summa Cum Laude from SUNY Cortland where she received a B.S in Early Childhood and Childhood Education, and from Fordham University where she received a M.S.E in Literacy Education Birth-6. She has taught first and third grades in inclusion classrooms for five years, and specializes in the areas of literacy coaching, differentiated instruction, Reader's and Writer's Workshop, and critical literacy. In addition, Amanda has experience with education technology and team leadership.
